The Combs Brothers Band is a group of musicians that have been captivating audiences with their unique sound and dynamic performances for just over a year. The band, which originated as an acoustic duo of twin brothers, has recently evolved into a 4-piece known for their unique blend of reggae, folk, and jam music.
Their sound has been described as "Barn Reggae" due to their rootsy, organic approach to the genre. With the addition of two distinguished musicians to their lineup, the band has created a formidable blend of old and new, blending blues and folk influences into a modern, contemporary, Cape Cod reggae-roots and jam powerhouse.
biography
2004-2005: Steve and Tom Combs, alongside their bassist and longtime friend Jake Parsons, embarked on a journey to Nashville, Tennessee, to record their debut album.
2008-2010: With the assistance of Jake Parsons, Steve and Tom Combs created a demo album titled "Little Change," featuring folk and acoustic style songwriting. Recorded in a small bedroom using an old desktop, this marked their initial exploration into the recording process. (Listen to the album here: link)
2008-2014: Steve, Tom, and Jake formed the band "Harbortown," incorporating elements of jam, reggae, and rock. They performed at various venues across New England, including clubs like The Middle East and festivals in Newport. Their album "Stories and Names," recorded at Allston's Mad Oak Studios and mastered at Metronome in NH, propelled them into the spotlight, influencing the Combs brothers' musical trajectory. 2014-2020: Following Harbortown's dissolution, Steve and Tom Combs transitioned to performing as a laid-back acoustic duo. They frequented bars, festivals, and stages throughout New England, with a focus on Cape Cod. Inspired by their experiences, they embarked on recording a new album, "Driftwood," with production assistance from Spiritual Rez Frontman Toft Willingham and other notable musicians.
2020-Current: Through their connections in the Cape Cod music scene, Steve and Tom met two new musicians, leading to the formation of "The Combs Brothers Band." Originating as an acoustic duo, the band has evolved into a 4-piece ensemble, showcasing a unique blend of reggae, folk, and jam music. With plans to release their debut album, "If You Have Room," mixed, mastered, and recorded at Underground Recording in Sagamore, the band anticipates making a significant impact in the contemporary music scene.
